Other than EditReady being faster than Media Encoder (and way more intuitive to use), it seemed to strain my computer less during the encoding process than did Media Encoder. However, I ran the clip through this test twice to make sure that the results were accurate, and sure enough, they were exactly the same the second time around. Obviously, this is an incredibly simple test, and it has its limitations in terms of really putting the performance of both softwares to the test.

The original clip was full HD, and the original file size was 274MB. I used a single 57 second h.264 clip shot on my Canon 60D to conduct my test. However, once I started using EditReady (and comparing it to Adobe Media Encoder, which is what I normally use for all of my encoding), what I found was pretty impressive. Unfortunately, EditReady is a Mac-only app, so in order to test its speed and overall performance, I had to use the Macbook.Ĭoming into the conversion process, I had been expecting all of my tests to be painfully slow because, frankly, the Macbook is on its last leg. Suffice it to say, I would NEVER choose to do transcoding work on the Macbook unless it was absolutely necessary. Back in the day, the Macbook was no slouch in terms of performance, but time has not been kind to it, and the performance these days is pretty underwhelming.

I own two computers, a mid 2010 Macbook Pro with a dual core 2.66GHz i7 processor and 8GB of RAM, and a custom-built editing PC that is insanely beefy in terms of specs and raw power. But, before we do, a primer on the computer that I used to test the software. programs have functioned without incident hence why ii registered this account on this date. Now let's talk about performance. Further the suggested fix did nothing to alleviate the issue of the program being shut down by Windows 10 with all recent data entered between hard saves Ctrl-S being lost. fault: system is not crashing!? Crashing as in my experience having systems crash since DOS 3.0 would include both OS and AS being taken down however the OS remains stable. Sorry, but I'm not a programmer and computer knowledge is fairly basic, so trying to turn programs off really isn't a practical solution for me.ĭoes anyone have a working solution to this issue, please?

Whether there is another program causing a problem or not I don't know, as I have not tried the 'Safe Mode' suggestion. OO still crashes - sometimes, but not all, when I try to add rows to a table!

Hi, I'm having the same problem as this thread, which seems to have been running for nearly 5 years now! Surely there should have been a fix for this apparent long-standing bug, long ago? See Settings > Update and Security > Recovery > Reset this PC to re-install W10 without losing your files. I think W10 has an integrity checker/repair utility - google for it. Run System File Checker (sfc /scannow) to check the integrity of Windows and repair any errors. Could it be a service? Check TaskManager Services tab. Start normally and compare the processes with those running when in Safe Mode.Ģ. Try the three different form of Safe Mode (with networking etc) and see if it is OK when the fewest things are prevented from starting. So it is something which runs when the PC boots but which is not one of the startup programs.ġ. It is not OK when all startup programs have been disabled.
